Adv4n6 is an assumed / online screen name (one of several) with the following background IRL: Having previously served as both a public and private sector digital forensic examiner AdV4n6 is a veteran law enforcement officer with over a decade of experience in patrol, SWAT, and investigations. He has primarily investigated technology involved crimes, many of which were conducted in an undercover capacity. He was a member of the Internet Crimes Against Children Taskforce, and the United States Secret Service Electronic Crimes Taskforce. Adv4n6 left public service and worked for a technology consulting firm specializing in digital forensic investigations and Electronic Discovery prior to his employment with a national digital forensics training firm.
Adv4n6 has testified before various courts of record on matters pertaining to all manner of criminal activity to include: homicide, aggravated assault, digital and mobile forensics, and other felony level cases. He has been disclosed as an expert witness in digital forensics in multiple state and federal court districts throughout the southeastern United States.
Adv4n6 is a certified law enforcement instructor, and has taught and assisted various local, state, and federal agencies. Additionally, he has presented to multiple organizations pertaining to technology and digital forensics, to include Vanderbilt University’s School of Law, the Texas State Securities Board, and the Federal Pretrial and Probation Officers Association National Training Institute. To date he has taught over 1,000 students nationwide.
Adv4n6 has attended over 1000 hours of digital forensics and investigations training to include: Basic Computer Evidence Recovery Training at the National Computer Forensics Institute; Basic Computer Forensic Examiner by the International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists; ICAC Undercover Chat and Peer-to-Peer Investigations on the Bit Torrent Network; Cellebrite’s logical and physical operator; and GPS interrogation, Cellphone Mapping and Analysis, Intermediate Data Recovery and Analysis, Mobile Device Forensic Analysis, and Advanced Mobile Device Acquisition by the NW3C.
Adv4n6 has earned multiple digital forensics certifications to include: Certified Forensic Computer Examiner, Certified Computer Examiner, IACIS Certified Mobile Device Examiner, and Cellebrite Certified Mobile Examiner.
He maintains active membership in multiple industry and professional associations to include: International Association of Computer Investigative Specialists and the International Society of Forensic Computer Examiners.
Adv4n6 is currently a employed by a national digital forensics training firm where he is the course lead for the Dark Web/OSINT course, and has assisted with the development of multiple courses including: Virtual Currency, Mobile Device Forensics, Dark Currency, Understanding Digital Footprints, and Digital Evidence Basics for Judges and Prosecutors. He also acts as a peer review coach for the IACIS CFCE process. He maintains an active POST certification and is a commissioned reserve detective with a Sheriff’s Office in the southeastern United States.
